History
We've done what we're going to do regarding the Revolutionary War. We've ended with talk of the freedom of the colonies and the continuing evil of slavery. That's a decent introduction to Black History month.
One of the last Liberty's Kids was about Mum Bett, a slave who took her master to court in 1781, sued for her freedom, and won. We referenced that story while talking about this poem, about the American dream vs American reality.
Asmund's thoughts on Langston Hughes:
"Oh, so that's why he wrote all those poems like jazz? Well, you can't change people's color but you can change people's minds."

Math
We're using Kahn right now. Asmund is starting multiplication. We're running into difficulty in that the quizes involve more reading, which he can't do, so that's much more time consuming for me.
